Basinger Big Sky
10x30
Acrylic, Ink
I only used three colors of paint, mixing the different colors that you see: Mars Black, Titanium White, and Burnt Sienna. I also had a brown Micron pen and a black Micron pen that I used for some of the lines.
These paintings are too big for me to scan, so I’ll be uploading pictures from a digital camera, coming full circle back to the first months of this site when I was taking pictures of my stick figure comics because I didn’t have a scanner yet.
Basinger Big Sky
- Ink - 5”x12”
Actually the drawing is 5x14 but my scanner won’t let me scan the top. There is maybe a half inch more of road and a the first cloud at the top is 2.5 inches from the top of the page. I also drew some crazy border around the whole thing but it was just distracting.

I’m taking an intro art class! We just had our first class. First we picked a picture from a pile of animals pictures and then spent 30 minutes drawing it “as best as we could” using a pencil. Then we flipped the picture upside down and drew it again. I liked my second one a lot more and took it home and inked and colored it. We’re using really big paper in the class and my whole drawing didn’t quite fit in the scanner. We also did a blind edge tracing exercise and a negative space exercise.
